Two main reasons: (1) it saves you forgetting to turn off hanging baskets if they are not on the main line controlled by the battery-operated timer; (2) A clockwork timer is ideal for soaker hoses which tend to be used once a week, and then only in dry periods, for giving a good deep soaking to trees, shrubs and borders. So set it for any time from 5 minutes to two hours and it will turn the water off automatically. |

Although using threaded Tee and End Bases is the most economical way of connecting Lawn pop-ups; Spike spray bodies can also be used as Pop-ups fit onto them too. The spike can be used to position the pop-up sprinkler for testing above ground, and can then be sunk into the mini-trench prior to filling and replacing turf. |

Use a soaker hose in dry periods once a week for established plants and twice a week for new plantings. Give a good deep soaking of one or two hours to trees, shrubs and borders. Ideal to use the Garden Magic™ Little Gem Clockwork timer to turn off the water. |

Consider using our adjustable drippers to water pots, grow-bags and trays. These can be adjusted to give a small spray and use very little water – typically you can fit 25 to one hose-line, more if some are adjusted down. Clearly misters are best if you need humidity for cuttings and tropical or delicate plants. |

If this is your first step into automatic watering the best advice is to buy a starter kit. Everything you need is there, assuming you have a garden hose and click-on connector. Irrigation Starter Kits are mostly for borders and vegetable plots. Drip Starter Kit is mostly for baskets and patio pots, as is our Pots & Baskets Kit. |

Fitting Polytube to elbows, Tees, Joiners and 13mm sprays. A good tip here is to soften the end of the Polytube in a mug/thermos of hot/boiling water for 10 seconds. In the same way, assemble Microsprays into the ends of the 5mm stems (risers) prior to insertion into the 13mm Polytube supply line. How to fit 5mm Polytube to the 13mm tube:- - Pierce a hole in the side of the 13mm tube near the pot or plant, using the Garden Magic Hole punch (this comes with 20 plugs to plug unwanted holes).
- Insert a 5mm Barbed Joiner. This is a double ended straight connector with a small flange in the middle to stop you pushing it in too far.
- Then push the 5mm tube over the free end of this connector - and your connection is made !
