This connector is mostly used for connecting our lights (which have the SPT-1 cable) to the heavier duty SPT-3 cable.  There's no need to cut the cable,  just click the connector over both cables in parallel and a weather-proof connection is made.

We have three different cable connectors in our range:
SPT-1 to SPT-1    (thin to thin)
SPT-3 to SPT-3  (thick to thick)
SPT-1 to SPT-3   (thin to thick)
These are used to connect the single lights to the run of cable; and also to connect different types of cable to each other
In order to make a connection, just place the two cables in parallel, each on one side of the base of the open connector.  Click the top part of the connector onto the bottom, push firmly and the weather-proof connection is made through the insulation of the cable
